Thai Cycling for Health Association / Thailand Cycling Club
The Thailand Cycling Club or Thai Cycling for Health Association was established on the 16th of March 1991. On that day about 40 cycling enthusiasts, who agreed to make cycling a new choice for solving problems of local traffic, air pollution and energy consumption, rallied on Bangkok streets together for the first time in Thailand. The purpose of the rally was to reintroduce this environmentally friendly vehicle to Thai society. 17 years later those some forty people turned out to be a more than 5,000 strong group of people of all walks of life, age, occupation, rank and position.
Complete families have joined our club and many children of members enjoy biking and camping. A large proportion of our members are ladies both married and unmarried, who enjoy a chance to explore Thailand safely at a cost lower than any tour company. We join up with cycling clubs local to the places visited and as a result enjoy local hospitality and see places which would be difficult without local knowledge.
Very soon we can claim that not a corner of Thailand remains unexplored by our members.
They are all members of the so-called “Bicycle Community” or “Bicycle Family”.
On the more serious side it should be noted, that TCC is not against bicycle racing. In fact, we actually support it. But along that line, we also have the ‘social-service’ missions that we think are more important than racing, such as organizing various activities to convince government on the bicycle option, bike rallies for our political awareness campaigns, such as election and transparency or accountability, drug fighting as well as Tod Pha Pa ( a Buddhist ceremonial event of giving robes to monks) and eco tourism, etc.
The Old Bicycle Recycle Project is a frequent social activity which ranks , very high among TCC members. We collect scrap bicycles and then our club members buy items for repair and for replacement of major components. After which we transport the bikes to rural schools and let the kids fix the unfinished minor parts and, finally, give the re-born bikes to these deserving kids. We usually camp at these schools and enjoy riding with the children.
We have also raised money by means of biking events to assist underprivileged children.
If you are a bicycle lover or enthusiast, every-day cyclist or bike commuter you are welcome to join the TCC family. be a part of it and be useful to society. Therefore join the TCC / TCHA! !

Sun. 18th Repair bikes at Khun Mee workshop. Map in newsletter. Click! Sat. 24th – Tue 27th. Recycle 37 to Suphanburi. Pay B500 cycle 400km. Sleep in Wad and school. Hand over 50 units recycled bikes and 18 new bikes and repair 100 bikes. Click!Sat 24th 0600 Meet at Sanam Luang Thammasart side. 0700 roll. 1630 Reach Suphanburi. Eat and stay at Wad Prasobsub.
Sun 25th 6,7,8 wake up, breakfast and go to Talad Suan Daeng and Museum.
1200 lunch. After go to Crocodile House. Stay at school.
Mon. 26th 6,7, 8 wake up, breakfast and official bike handover at 0800.
1100 Baan Thai Sankom.
1600 go around market.
Stay at school.
Tue. 27th 6,7,8 wake up and breakfast. 0900 Go to wad then bike home arrive back 1700.

0900 Meet at BTS Saladaeng Station to sign up for bag, hat and sign up for coupons for food and T shirt and booklet.
0930 Rally Route explained.
1000 Start biking 3 sois.
1010 Hays Library and British Club.
1040 Bangkok Museum.
1050 Relax and eat some food.
1120 Go to Silom.
1130 Wad Kag,
1200 Christ Church in Convent Road and eat food.
1240 Silom Game.
1300 Collect game points.
1330 Announce results and hand out prizes.
1400 Finish game and start party in Silom.
2000 Finish.
Total 220km Pay Baht 300 for boat, luggage carrier and insurance. Sleep in tents. Who eats pays.
Fri. 28th 0730 Meet at Lumpini Park Statue.
0800 Start via Rama 4, Sukhumvit & Bangna Trad.
1100 Lunch Chonburi.
1300 Start from Chonburi Hospital go via Sukhumvit to Bangsaen then Siricha then old port.
1500 Load boat.
1530 Boat sails.
1630 Land at Koh Sichang and go to Thesaban to set up tents.
1800 Dinner.
Sat. 29th 0600 Get up.
0700 Breakfast.
0800 Start pedaling around island. 20km.
1900 Back to camp.
Sun. 30th 0600 get up, 0700 breakfast.
0800 Start out to boat.
0830 Load boat and leave.
0930 Land on mainland.
1200 Lunch.
1700 Back at Lumpini.

Sat/Sun 19/20th Recycle trip #36 Rachabury by bike no bus to hand over 50 bikes to school kids and repair bikes at Rachabury Pay B200. Total distance 270km. first day bike first then repair bikes and hand over bikes next day get back to Bangkok ?. Sleep in tents or rooms. TCHA will go with Rachaburi Bike Club. Click!
Sat 19th 0600 Meet at Sanam Luang opp. Thammasat Uni.
0630 Leave at the same time as repair team with 50 bikes on lorry. Bike route via Boromrachani road. Eat on the way at Puttamonton Soi 4 market. Go via Potaram where we meet Rachaburi BC then lunch. Bike to Chombeung to hand over bikes and repair kids bikes.
2000 Music and dinner.
Sun 20th 0600 (Get up 0500) Leave and take breakfast in Talad Chombeung. After breakfast proceed along the banks of the Maeklong River seeing local activities and way of life. See Nakonpathom Chedi eat lunch and bike home.
Sun 27th AGM 2553 (2010) Elect new president and his assistants. Click!
1100 Sign in and lunch.
1300 Presentation.
1330 Awards.
1400 Start AGM covering history, accounts and elections.
